Ghost Whisperer : Jim’s Death
Whoa! Everybody’s freaking out about Jim’s death. I love Jim! He’s one of the major characters on Ghost Whisperer. Without him, the show wouldn’t be the same at all. The producers made a really HUGE mistake about killing him…if he really is dead that is. I have to admit that his death was kind of weird. It could be that Melinda was just dreaming or it was just one of her premonitions. Or that the producers want Jim to be a ghost to help Melinda out, which is a bad idea by the way.
I received tons of comments and emails about this recent turn of events. You can read them all here and here. You can reply to them there or just comment in this post. I really want to hear what you guys think! I think all of the Ghost Whisperer viewers are broken up about this. The show even lost a lot of viewers after that episode.

Killing off Jim would be a major mistake for a great show. Letting Prof. Payne go was bad enough. I do not see the chemistry with Eli that Melinda has with Payne and by no means, with Jim. Bring Jim back, letting him “die” for a few minutes would give him a better understanding of Melinda and what she does, but to keep him dead will make a NON VIEWER of me.

If you really have Killed of Jim, I don’t know if I will watch the show anymore. He and Melinda are just getting ready for a baby and he is a main character. Bring hm back or I think the show will have major problems staying on the air.

I agree. It would be horrible if Jim was killed. I most definitely wouldn’t watch the show if that happened.

I have watched the series from the beginning and NO WAY should they have killed Jim. I, too said I would not watch the show because of that episode. I hope Melinda was just dreaming, and he comes back. Staying on the show, and helping Melinda from the “other side” is stupid. It was bad enough when they killed off the one friend who truly understood Melinda - and now her husband! Someone needs to fix that story line - FAST!!

what about a near death experience????? some people have flatlined and then been revived . Could this be what is happening to JIm? I too think it would be a big mistake to kill JIm.

Who is writing this stuff?? If Jim’s gone or a “forever” ghost, I won’t be watching the show anymore. It would make Melinda and Jim’s relationship way too contrived. Hope it’s not another dream sequence like some of the shows are using due to lack of better story ideas. Seriously, writers, get it together or you will be losing a lot of devoted viewers.

Thank you Ivy!
But what was the situation that had him get shot?
I know that he now inhabites anothers’ body since the end of that episode, so he will still ‘live-on’, but why, or how did he get shot?
(I don’t have very good software to view it online) -

@Nancy - Jim’s friend was about to get married but it turned out that the guy she was marrying was a con man. He lied about his identity to Jim’s friend (I’m sorry I forgot the names). Once all was revealed and the wedding was called off, Jim went back to the cabin where they were supposed to hold the wedding. But when he got there, the jilted groom was there all upset and suicidal. He was holding a gun. Melinda was warned by a ghost so she called a detective and went after Jim. when they got there, jim and the jilted groom were already struggling to take control of the gun. The detective took fire without knowing who it was. Turned out it was Jim. They rushed him to hospital. Doctors say he was stable but there is a possibility of an embolism.
Hope my summary makes sense.

I missed the Nov. 7th episode, my DVR decided not to record it!! So mad!! I have read recaps of the show and can’t believe they killed Jim. It was so upsetting and unbelievable when the killed Eiesha Tyler (Melinda’s best friend). I don’t know why the writers and producers would think it is such a good idea to kill two main characters and then have Payne leave the show. When you watch a show you get attached to those main characters and having them leave just wrecks the chemistry of the entire show. Please, Please, Please do not kill Jim!!!

That was a big mistake having Jim die. Jim was such a good husband and helped Melinda in such a special, loving way. This putting his spirit into that dead man’s body is not good at all. What will happen now with this story line? Nothing good at all. What were these writers thinking? Did they really want to ruin this terrific show? I do think so.

Very Very Disappointed. Was upset when they killed off her friend and brought in the other lady who does nothing for the show–she must of known someone.. I think they do not want to pay salary increases so they kill them off instead. Now the show will be killed off because by killing Jim they killed their own show.

we, fans from brazil, think is a HUGE mistake jim dies.he was melinda’s soul mate, a dedicated professional, husband and friend.he always understood melinda since they get married and she told him about her gift.he was her emotinal support to help her to solve the ghost’s problems.jim was a main character and so important as melinda.we just don’t have any more reasons to keep watching the tv show without him.

Cindy Says:
When I saw the “Threshold” storyline, I was shocked and confused as to why Jim’s character would abruptly die. At first, like everyone else, it would end up a nightmare or from the gunshot piercing the window to outside, I thought Melinda’s character was the one who was really shot and she would wake up as well. I hope “Jim” remains on the show and the writers give him more storyline! Like other’s have said, the chemistry is what makes GW! If the writers could now give his character equal time as Jennifer it would balance the show more. Of course, this maybe a woman’s perspective, but make this a positve “never been done before” television series and keep the “Jim” we have all grown to love! Let us get to know “Jim” and focus the series on their relationship for awhile and if you have to bring in “cameo” actors later we understand, but please keep “Jim!” If he leaves, I would not be able to watch the series any longer. Best of luck to the writers and please remember, you are already going outside the box, so make a statement and let Jim transform from “the devoted Husband” to a true MAIN CHARACTER!

Mel Says:
I was shocked, disappointed, complete disbelief when I watched Jim’s death. I DVR the shows and watch them later. I am just sick. Jim and Mel were/are a great couple - an inspiration. Their relationship is one of the primary reasons why I watch the show. They have an undescribable chemistry that most just dream about having. I am just heart broken. Do not know what the producers have in mind with this very important, main character, but I can tell you that that I will not be watching the show next season if he does not come back. The actor makes the role so real, makes him, as a man approachable. A man you might see in your own life. Kind, caring, normal appearance, intelligent, hard working, devoted husband — we need more like that out there. Taking that away from me as a fan not only disappoints me, but pushes me away from the show. I love Jennifer Love Hewitt as an actress, my comments in no way diminish my thoughts of her and her role in the show - but I consider them a package deal.

I’m from Hong Kong and haven’t watch the episode yet, but feel this is the biggest mistake too. Why the producer wants to end such great marriage which almost rare happen in real life!!! Though I thought that’s impossible if in real life your wife have a such great look (and wear deeeeep V neck all the time) and no or not many male will be attracted by her. Maybe the production company thinks it will be more REAL that Melinda should have had more romance in the show. Anyway, Jim is such a perfect husband (always supportive, never quest wife’s late night out etc…), actually is not realistic at all.

I think Jim’s death will be a huge mistake…i am older than all of you people probably (74) but i love ghost whisperer.
It’s one of my favourite tv programmes and Jim and Melinda are my favourite people.
I think the person who plays him is an amazing actor, his character understands Melinda’s seeing Ghosts Problem and always is supportive to her. He should not be killed off becuase that would ruin Melinda’s Life and Also Mine.
i think if they are going to kill him off that it should be a joke and then he comes back 3 or whatever years later.
Melinda And Jim Go Amazingly Together and Always Have Since The First Episode.
thanks
