Latest News on the Upcoming Season of Dexter

Here is the latest article about what to expect this upcoming season of Dexter.

Dexter Morgan, You’ve Got a Friend: “Dexter has turned his back on his father but is still using the code,” Michael C. Hall says of his darky, dreaming alter ego in the upcoming season. “And yet, there still remains an unconscious desire for connection. And certain circumstances lead him into a relationship with Jimmy Smits’ character which satisfy that urge in him.” Executive producer Clyde Phillips teases that Smits plays a an assistant DA with “great political ambition” and he becomes Dexter’s “first adult friend.”

Spoilers: When asked if Dex might break the code and kill someone innocent, Phillips dished, “Yes, he will. And without giving too much away, I will say we can consider it dropping a pebble on a mountainside filled with snow, and it will cause an avalanche.”

As for Dex’s sister Deb, says Phillips: “She will finally enter into a healthy loving relationship, but I can’t tell you with whom, but hopefully it will be a surprise.” Hmmm…Someone we already know?

Emmy Noms—Finally! Producer Clyde Phillips credits Dexter’s run on CBS for its first Emmy Award nods this year (for the series and Michael C. Hall). “People started searching for other shows during the strike, and Dexter fit right into the CBS crime-night structure.”

Spoilers for Dexter Season 3

Here is the latest news and spoilers from the upcoming 3rd season of Dexter.

And now for the dirty sexy dish from Clyde Phillips about season three. We talked to him before the writers’ room even opened for the new season, so everything is subject to change, but here’s what Dex’s boss is thinking about for the series’ next installment.

Source: Who’s Your Daddy? Clyde says that in season three, Dexter gets personal and, uh, professional traction in a way we’ve not yet seen: “Basically, what’s happened with Dexter is that the first year was his childhood, and the second year was his adolescence, and the third year is going to be his adulthood. He will become more of his own man. He will still live by what we call the Code of Harry, if you know what that is, although his relationship with his father was already to some extent deconstructed in the second year.” Ah, he’s metaphorically killed the father…”But then, once you kill the father, then you learn to appreciate him.” If this involves more James Remar (Harry Morgan) and MCH in a silly wig, whatever this means it’s A-okay by me.

Clean Slate: Clyde says they’re still noodling around with the exact arc of season three: “The first year we had the books, and the second year we knew that the bodies were going to turn up and that the FBI was going to come and that Doakes was going to be suspicious. The third year we’re starting tabula rasa.” This, in case you couldn’t guess from the show in question being Dexter, means anything is possible…
Dexter

Darkly Dreaming Dexter: Dexter Morgan continues to embrace the Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne side of his life in season three. In particular, one of TV’s best good and evil entanglements, Dexter and Rita, will be going strong. Clyde tells me, “The relationship will be there…One of the things that keeps him grounded is his burgeoning affection for Rita and his outright affection for her children. If Dexter didn’t have Rita, if he didn’t have the Code, if he didn’t have his sister, there’s a very good chance he’d go off the rails. He does have them all, and that’s what levels him, that’s what keeps him grounded.”

Darling Deadly Doakes: Now that Sgt. James Doakes (played by Erik King) has been, well, dispatched from the series, is that the end of his presence in Miami? Clyde says, “First of all, it was a very difficult decision personally to do what we did to Doakes, because we love the guy—we love Erik King. Nobody could have handled it more professionally than he did. He was splendid when we had to break the news to him. It’s what you do on a show…We’re all professional, and he understood. Basically, next season, Doakes’ end resonates emotionally with Laguerta (Lauren Vélez), although I don’t know where that goes yet.” May I propose an appearance by Ghost Doakes?

Be sure to check back Monday for more Dexter goodness in my Watch with Kristin Show.

Until then, what do you think should go down in season three? A new direction for Deb’s (Jennifer Carpenter) love life? A better babe for David Zayas’ Bautista? More shirtless Michael C. Hall? All of the above?

Your thoughts are welcome in Comments!

DEXTER’s move to CBS marks the first time a full season of a premium cable drama series will make the transition to network television. DEXTER’s 12-episode first season will be edited for network television and will be broadcast on 12 consecutive Sundays.

“We’re excited to work with our corporate cousins at SHOWTIME on this unique programming opportunity,” said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. “DEXTER is a high-quality, compelling series that will be new and original programming for most CBS viewers. It ’s also a great match with our existing lineup, affording us the opportunity to promote this critically decorated series in CBS’s top-rated crime dramas.”

Based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, DEXTER stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated Michael C. DEXTER has been honored in two consecutive years with American Film Institute Awards for Top 10 Outstanding Programs (2006, 2007) and has been nominated in various categories for awards given out by the Writers Guild, Producers Guild, Casting Society, Television Critics Association and the Primetime Emmy Awards.

DEXTER’s second season finale on Sunday, Dec. 16 averaged 1.4 million viewers, the largest audience ever for an original SHOWTIME broadcast.

DEXTER also stars Julie Benz (”Angels,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Jennifer Carpenter (”The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), Erik King (”National Treasure”), Lauren Velez (”Oz”), David Zayas (”Michael Clayton”) and James Remar (”Sex and the City”). John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton and Clyde Phillips, are executive producers. DEXTER was developed for television by James Manos, Jr.

Left Turn Ahead

DexterFinale predictions. As what I have said in a comment, Lila will take the blame. The police will think Lila held Doakes hostage. Or she loved Dexter so much that she’s willing to confess as the Bay Harbor Butcher. But I’m thinking, it wouldn’t make sense if it’s Lila, ’cause she doesn’t fit the profile. It’s just obvious to me that Dexter won’t go to prison and I just have a hunch that Doakes won’t die and get his name cleared. So who else is left but Lila. I’m still not sure too on how they will resolve the thing about Doakes knowing Dexter’s secret. Hmmm… maybe they will kill Doakes. Nooo! I’m still in denial. I don’t want Doakes to go.

Have I already said how i hate and loath Lila. I mean accusing sweet Angel of rape! That’s just evil. I hope she dies or better yet, I hope she rots in prison!
Anyway, I’m so excited for the season finale.  Don’t forget to watch and we’ll all rave about it after!

D vs. D

May contain some spoilers.

Dexter, “I killed my father.

D and DSo yeah I was right. Dexter’s plan is to frame Doakes. I knew it, he couldn’t kill Doakes. He’s too obsessed with Harry’s code. Although in this episode we found out that Harry isn’t the person Dexter thought he was. He always placed Harry on a pedestal. Harry’s code this, Harry’s code that. Everything in his life is governed by the code. But now, he found out that Harry committed suicide after all. He didn’t just die of a heart attack, he induced it. Matthews said that Harry couldn’t deal with criminals getting away. But Dexter thought it’s because of him. After Harry saw Dexter butchering a person, he got overcome with so much guilt for teaching Dexter the code and tolerating his murderous tendencies that he couldn’t take it anymore so he killed himself.

Well now, it’s not just Harry who saw the monster in Dexter. A drug dealer was looking for Jimenez. Somehow he found the cabin where Jimenez live and where Dexter is hiding Doakes. So Dexter had no choice but to set a trap for the drug dealer and kill him. Kill him he did but in front of Doakes too…well at least behind a plastic cover. Doakes looked so traumatized that for a second you’ll forget that he is a war veteran. Throughout the season, Dexter’s humanity and conscience were played out. But this episode reminded us that he is a serial killer and not just some normal guy with “feelings”.

Meanwhile Rita and Dexter are now in good terms. They’ll probably get back together. That is if Dexter won’t go to prison. But the obsessive-attention craving-drug addict Lila stole the spotlight once again by overdosing on ruffies.

I’m very excited but at the same time sad for Dexter’s upcoming season finale. Two more episodes everyone. Chop chop! Get those predictions rolling!

I don’t think Dexter will get caught. Lila will die (I really hope so!). Doakes won’t go to prison, somehow Laguerta will clear his name. These are my predictions. Tell me yours!

Let me Consult my Crystal Ball

What do you think will happen next on Dexter? I think Doakes will take the fall or he’ll die. But Dexter won’t kill him, maybe he’ll die in the line of fire. What a lucky guy, Dexter is. Right when you thought he’s done for, he somehow gets through it.

It’s time for predictions everyone. Only three episodes left!

Morning Comes

DexterDexter is losing control. That annoying Lila chick is ruining everything instead of helping him recover. Turned out that Lila is an obsessive stalker who would do everything even burn her apartment just to get Dexter’s attention. It worked for a while, but in episode 8, Morning Comes, he finally found out what’s been going on. He finally got rid of her. Oh, he didn’t kill her, he just dumped her.

On top of all that, Doakes found Dexter’s “stash”! His collection of blood from those criminals he murdered. Lundy mentioned to Doakes that there was a blood work error on one of the cases of the victims of the Bay Harbor Butcher. Doakes finally put the pieces together, that being a vigilante serial killer is what Dexter is hiding.

If things couldn’t get any worse, Lundy, Batista, and Debra confirmed that the Bay Harbor Butcher is one of them. A vehicle of one of the victims was confiscated and parked in the evidence lot. Someone signed it out, picked Rodrigo(the victim) up, killed him and returned the vehicle. And the only one who could do that is a member of the Miami Police Department.

How would Dexter get out of this one?

It’s Alive!

Debra Morgan, “There might be a new mass murderer out there, way worse than the Ice Truck Killer“.

DexterFinally! A season premiere worth the wait!

Everything seems to be falling apart for Dexter. He hasn’t been able to quench his thirst for murder for 36 or so days since he killed his brother, because Doakes keeps following him. And when he finally did get around to kill some blind guy, he flaked. He can’t get himself to plunge the knife into his victim. He was so agitated that he can’t even “perform” for Rita.

He tried to kill somebody again after tricking Doakes on leaving him alone. This time it was a mountain of a man, that he had to use two doses of that paralyzing syringe. But he underestimated the strength of the huge guy. The guy escaped from the duck tape Dexter used to bind him. And to top it all off, when he got home, he found out that his dumping spot was discovered by treasure hunters! The spot where he gets rid of his victims and the instruments he used to off them.

Finally Dexter felt alive.

At first I couldn’t see the connection between the episode title “It’s Alive” with the episode storyline. But as I was writing it, I had a light bulb moment. It’s a reference to his heart. As a teenager he almost jumped off a building just to feel alive, to feel his heart beating fast. And when his dumping spot was all over the news, he finally experienced it.
