CSI Season 8 Episode 17 : For Gedda Spoiler

Warning! This is a very detailed spoiler.

“For Gedda” starts at a funeral. Mr Bell’s body lies in a coffin. The mourners have already come to pay their respects, and now Carolina Bell is the only one left with her husband’s body. She’s crying, unable to say goodbye as she puts a gold football trophy in the coffin with him.

The mortician, Kerwinkle Lord, sits to the left of the coffin. He doesn’t seem at all affected by the grief surrounding him–he’s used to this. On the other side of the coffin, flowers stand with a picture of Mr Bell and a high school football team. The state championship trophy in the picture is the one that now sits in the coffin with Mr Bell’s body.

Six large men–clearly football players–serve as pallbearers. They carry the coffin easily toward the gravesite. Carolina Bell stands with the other mourners that line the streets. As the pallbearers continue their solemn journey, the coffin shifts and buckles. They try to get a better grip, but they can’t prevent whatever is about to happen.

A body falls out of the bottom of the coffin–a skinny Caucasian corpse in full rigor, wearing nothing but a pair of underwear. This sure as hell isn’t Mr Bell. Before the mourners can do more than gasp, Mr Bell’s body falls out of the bottom of the coffin and lands on top of the unidentified dead man. The crowd is shocked.

Brass talks to Carolina Bell, asking if she can identify the second corpse. He tries to get her to turn away from the sight of the coroners moving her husband’s body, but she asks him not to touch her. She turns away when she can’t look anymore. She doesn’t know who the other man is. Carolina is distressed and filled with grief at what has happened, but the other mourners have room for anger, and they direct it at the coroners.

The pallbearers stand between the body and the Coroner’s van, preventing David Phillips and the coroner’s assistant from getting past them. They refuse to let them take Mr Bell’s body. They want him put into the coffin and buried properly. David doesn’t know what to do, and Nick and Grissom approach, hoping to diffuse the situation. They’re just doing their jobs.

The pallbearers won’t be swayed. This is a disgrace. They can’t redo the funeral, buy another casket, and mourn all over again. Nick reminds them that the person who put the second corpse into the coffin will be held responsible. They don’t want someone held responsible–they want someone dead for doing this. Nick tells them it can’t work that way, so they stand their ground. If they’re taking Mr Bell’s body, they have to get through these guys first.

Grissom has been keeping the uniformed officers back, but now they approach with their batons out. Brass hurries over. Nick and Grissom step out of the way with David as the two groups meet. This looks like a riot in the making.

The CSIs must figure out who the second corpse is and who put him in the casket. Meanwhile, things get intense when Lou Gedda (John Capodice), the slippery scumbag first seen in “Cockroaches”, is found dead. He’s been handcuffed in his barber’s chair and shot multiple times. Could Warrick be responsible?

Gary Dourdan Fired

mv5bmtu0oty4ntk1ml5bml5banbnxkftztcwnzc5nzqxmq_v1_sy140_sx100_.jpg

TVGuide reports that Gary Dourdan who plays Warrick Brown in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is fired.  Here is an excerpt of their article:

Initially, I reported that the actors were leaving for the most mundane of reasons: Both of their contracts were up, and they had decided to move on. But in the hours that followed the posting of those stories, new information came to light that now calls into question my original sources the exact circumstances surrounding the exits — specifically, whether the stars were leaving of their own accord or if they had been shown the door.

In the case of Dourdan, an insider at the show insists that he and CSI execs “mutually agreed” to part ways for “creative reasons.” However, a CBS mole claims the 41-year-old actor was essentially fired, adding that producers are trying to be “as supportive and protective” of him as possible by portraying the departure as mutual. That same mole wasn’t willing to share the specific reason for Dourdan’s ouster, except to say that it involves an “ongoing problem personal to Dourdan.”

That doesn’t exactly narrow it down. In 2005, Dourdan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to stay away from then-girlfriend Anne Greene and attend domestic-violence counseling. And last July, a video of him allegedly attacking a TMZ photographer made the rounds on the Web.

Meanwhile, CBS still won’t officially “confirm or deny” that Dourdan is on his way out, even as a search for his replacement is underway. Repeated calls to the goodbye guy’s camp went unreturned.

Gil Grissom Plans to Leave CSI

William Peterson who plays Gil Grissom is planning to leave CSI. In a recent interview, the CSI actor talks about why he was planning to leave and whats holding him back.

William Petersen

“It’s hard to play the same character all the time; at some point you want to be released from that,” Petersen told the Radio Times. “I understood that going into CSI to a certain degree, but you don’t know how long it’s going to last. I think the time is coming when it will be the right choice for Grissom and the audience for me to do something else. I sort of know when, but it’s between me and the producers.”

But something is holding him back.

“[My family never makes] any money and they work long hours, and I’ve asked my dad and brother over the years, ‘Why don’t you sell up and retire?’ But they say it’s because it gives livelihoods to 20 people. I was always impressed by that. On CSI we give work to 200 people and I feel a real obligation to them. I believe acting is just what I do for work.”

William also talked about the other CSI franchise, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.

“I still think that the other shows could have been done in a more interesting way. I think they just rubber-stamped them and stuck more of them out there,” the actor, who hasn’t been shy in the past about being critical of the rest of the CSI franchise, said. “CSI: Miami does 24 shows a year, CSI: NY does 24; everyone gets tired. There’s a whole lot of stories we can’t do because of the other shows, and that’s a problem.”

CSI is a great show. It’s now in its 8th season, yet their fan base is still going stronger. It would be sad if William leaves but I think it’s time for CSI to step down. Go now while your still at the top.
