Online TV – The End of Television As We Know It?

The content can live forever on the Web now. Online TV is growing daily at an uncanny rate. “Although online TV viewing is still not an overwhelming phenomenon in the world of entertainment, the proportion of users has increased 3-fold since 2006 and is more than likely to increase over time, given consumers’ love for entertainment and easiness that Internet provides in searching and accessing it” said Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center.

Nielsen Online, arguably Internet’s most reputable source of stats and analytics about the current trends on the Web, reveals in one of its recent reports that women online TV shows on broadcast network TV sites at least twice more often than men, especially younger women that fall within the 18-to-34 age range. Men however are almost 3 times more likely to watch video from the leading consumer-generated media Web sites - MySpace, YouTube, Veoh, and Break.com. Another interesting finding of the report is the preferred time of the day for the viewing of video streaming online TV shows. Lion’s share of the online TV watching online is happening during the lunch hours of noon to 2 p.m. during the week, while most of the viral video viewing is between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the weekends.

Another important finding of the study is that people who are watching television online prefer it to regular TV, because they like the convenience and the ability to “fast-track” or avoid commercials. This is backed by Byron Allen of Entertainment Studios, Hollywood’s biggest TV syndication company, who claims that about 92% of his web audience (and thats about 32500 unique visitors per week) go to his website to watch ad-free shows and popular young comedians such Al Del Bene , Yvette Wilson or Robert Schimmel.

“Over the next two or 3 years, the growing popularity of viewing various TV shows online is going to have a huge impact on the way corporations and advertising professionals work and communicate with viewers,” said Shari Morwood, executive VP of technology, telecommunications and media at TNS. “If advertisers manage to adapt, and will be able to effectively leverage the online video platform, we should see much more interactivity and emotional connection between brands and the online TV viewing audience.”

Tip/Nuck

Sean/Christian, “Tell me what you don’t like about yourself?

NIp/Tuck official website. If you like all the spicy sometimes erotic drama of Palm Beach plastic surgeons or was it Miami…yeah Miami Florida, then you might want to check out Nip/Tuck.

The series follows the lives of two surgeons from the hottest plastic surgery center in south Florida, the McNamara-Troy. Sean McNamara is a push-over family man who makes working as an excuse to avoid his dysfunctional family, his pathetic wife Julia, his rebellious son Matt and daughter Annie. Christian on the other hand, is an arrogant, narcissistic, unethical, ladies man, who will do just about anything for money.

I never really bothered watching the rest of the series. It’s too exaggerated like that of a Mexican soap opera. And what’s up with that dude with the thick eyebrows and the big words? Christian’s son. He’s so annoying! I can’t believe women are swooning over him. He looks gay…wait, is he?

Genre: Drama

Tagline: The deeply superficial series returns.

Network: FX Network

Schedule: Tuesdays at 10

Cast:

Dylan Walsh as Dr. Sean McNamara
Julian McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy
Joely Richardson as Julia McNamara
John Hensley as Matt McNamara
Roma Maffia as Dr. Liz Cruz

The Heart of the Matter

Listening to: Believe in Dreams by Flyleaf

McDreamy is McPerfect.Which is worse starving yourself or a visit to a plastic surgeon or some rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills and LA? People just disgust me sometimes. They’re willing to risk their lives just to look what other people want them to look like.

Just saw Grey’s Anatomy episode 4 today. Dr. Callie was right in blaming that guy who let his wife die because of starvation and over training. It’s unprofessional, but sometimes people just need a slap in the face to realize what they’ve done. It had been established that women are susceptible to poor body image, but men doesn’t have to make it worse. Especially those who tell their girlfriends or wives or even friends to lose weight so they could look “hot”. Ugh! This issue just irks me. It reminds me of Baz Luhrmann’s advice; “Don’t read beauty magazines, it’ll only make you feel ugly.”.

Anyway, Derek’s proposal to Meredith was perfect! Here’s a quote:

“I wanna marry you. I wanna have kids with you. I wanna build us a house. I wanna settle down and grow old with you. I wanna dine and live a hundred and ten years old in your arms. I don’t want 48 uninterrupted hours. I want a lifetime.”

McDreamy just officially became MCDREAMY!!! It’s so McPerfect. *sigh* Tell me, who could top that?

Some Days It’s Hard To Be a One Girl Revolution

One and Lonely
by Superchick

It’s not like they meant to hurt me
Watching TV, checking Britney, televised, my guys
Checking out her thighs and I roll my eyes and sigh
It’s not like I even need to be competing with unreality TV, fantasy
Not for a smart girl like me
Some days it’s hard to be a one girl revolution

[Chorus:]
Sometimes I have good days and it’s good to be me
Sometimes I get the best of insecurity
And it’s quite alright to be the one and only
But today I feel like the one and lonely

It’s not that I don’t know beauty is only skin deep
Just the skin I’m in, not the girl within
But one imperfection takes away my grin,
Not that I think I’m ugly, but
Acne throws me for a backslide
I won’t go outside
Makeup can’t hide how I feel inside
Some days it’s hard to be a one girl revolution

[Chorus]

Oh, the one and lonely
We all have bad hair days
Those nothing good about me days
Just keep moving on cause they’ll be gone
And we’ll still be here going on
We have our yesterdays
No lunch cause the jeans don’t fit days
Just keep moving on cause they’ll be gone
And we’ll still be here going on

[Chorus 2:]
Sometimes I have bad days and it’s hard to be me,
Sometimes I get brought down by insecurity
And I have my days where I’m the one and lonely
But today I choose to be the one and only
Yeah, I’m the one and only

The Art of Kitten Huffing

Hey Tom, here are some tattoo ideas for you, since you like kitten huffing so much.

Anyway, I found these cute pictures of kittens in an article about kitten huffing. According to the article, kitten huffing is a healthy alternative to street drugs. Let’s begin our study:

Cute Kitten

An unhuffed cute kitten.

Scientists

Kittens should be tested first before they are released in the market.

Buy kittens.

Kittens are being sold in the streets illegally for huffing.

Storage

After buying them, they are stored here or ….

Kitten hiffing.

if you can’t contain your excitement, you could huff them right away.

Cat huffing.

This is another way of huffing using cats. Which is reportedly dangerous.

Father of kitten huffing.

He is the father of Kitten huffing.

Perv.

What the…! This perv shouldn’t even be here. This is huffing not hoffing.

Thus end the kitten huffing crash course. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to comment.

Note: Hope Uncyclopedia doesn’t mind me stealing their pics. I just can’t help myself, they’re just soooo cute!

Mouthful of Words

Nasal Septum

As I was strolling the world of blogs, I encountered a strange sounding phrase, septal perforation. At first, I thought could it be something about sepsis or septic tanks (eew  )? Why waste my time wondering when Google is just a URL away? Duh! *hit Ivy on the head*

So, I found out that septal refers to the nasal septum, which is the wall in the middle of the nose that divides it into two sides. And of course, perforation means hole. Therefore, septal perforation means a hole in the nasal septum. This perforation/s can be caused by abscess, drug abuse, or certain diseases.

Whew! I should be a doctor……….or not.

Who Breaks a Butterfly Upon a Wheel?

Listening To: Neil Crespi’s Playlist. *crunch crunch* Isn’t he crispy? :D

Let Sporus tremble –”What? that thing of silk,
Sporus, that mere white curd of ass’s milk?
Satire or sense, alas! can Sporus feel?
Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?”
Yet let me flap this bug with gilded wings,
This painted child of dirt that stinks and stings;
Whose buzz the witty and the fair annoys,
Yet wit ne’er tastes, and beauty ne’r enjoys,

- Epistle to Dr. Arbuthnot by Alexander Pope

Butterfly on a WheelI was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining Butterfly on a Wheel is. I wasn’t expecting it to be that good.

I wasn’t really excited about it, I thought it’s just another one of Peirce Brosnan’s action movies. Boy was I wrong! It’s a small and simple film. No need for explosions and exaggerated special effects, the great actors and the excellent plot itself made the movie.

I don’t want to spoil it for you, but here’s a short synopsis:

Neil Randall and Abby Randall lived a perfect and happy life. With a blink of an eye, everything turned upside down when their young daughter, Sophie, got kidnapped. Suddenly they were forced to comply with the abductor’s demands. Over the next twenty-four hours, Neil and Abby were in the middle of a psychological game orchestrated by the sociopathic kidnapper, Ryan (Pierce Brosnan), who clearly didn’t want their money. Soon it became clear on what Ryan really wanted. In exchange for their daughter, Ryan wants Neil to kill somebody. Would they kill an innocent person in exchange for the safety of their daughter?

Awesome twist at the end. You wouldn’t guess the real plot of the story until it is finally revealed. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the summary, it’s just merely a scratch off the surface.

Note: In early 2007, the title was changed to Shattered.

Genre: Crime / Drama / Thriller

Tagline: Lives will be broken.

Cast:

Pierce Brosnan as Tom Ryan
Maria Bello as Abby Randall
Gerard Butler as Neil Randall
Callum Keith Rennie as Detective McGrath
Dustin Milligan as Matt Ryan
