I know this is kind of a late Halloween tribute but earlier at work, during our break, we were telling each other ghost stories. It reminded me of my past experiences with the supernatural. Two times to be exact.
First Incident
The first time it happened was when I was just about 6 years old. I just came home from school, I went straight to the piano and practiced some tunes, when I heard my mom calling from upstairs. It was about 6 pm, so it’s starting to get dark. The light wasn’t on upstairs so I couldn’t see anything except my mom’s hair when I went halfway up the stairs. It was like she was leaning on the banister and her long hair kinda hid her face. I told her that I’ll be right up, I just have to get my book bag. As I was picking up my books, the phone rang. I answered it. Lo and behold! It was my mom! I hurriedly told my mom about what just happened, hung up the phone and ran to my nanny who was cooking in the kitchen. I was so spooked that I wouldn’t leave her side for a week.
Second Incident
This time I was in high school. We were sent home early because of some faculty meeting. So I went straight to my aunt’s house since it’s just a block away from the school. My aunt’s husband’s niece, named Jeanie, lives with them. I get along with her so well, that I can just hang out in her room even if she’s not there. Since it was still noon time, she was still at school.
I was just lounging in her bed with my head phones on and eyes closed. I heard some rustling sounds so I opened my eyes. I saw Jeanie standing in front of the mirror with her back turned away from me. I smiled and said hi. She just stood there unmoving and didn’t say anything. So I shrugged, returned to my music and close my eyes. I figured that she must be having PMS again.
I heard some rustling sounds again, so I opened my eyes to see what she’s doing. But she was already gone. I waited for her to come back, but she didn’t.
Later that afternoon, I saw Jeanie again, she just came home from school. This time she was smiling and cheery. I asked her right away if she was having PMS again ’cause she didn’t even so much as look at me earlier. She asked me what I was talking about. So I said, “Remember? At noon? You went up to your room and just stood there?”. Even to this very day, I’ll still get goosebumps when I remember how frightened I felt when she said she was at school the whole day and that she never came home.
I keep discrediting what I saw. I keep finding possible explanation on why I saw those thingies. I told myself that I could have heard something else like the wind or something and I just thought that it was my mom calling. But for the life of me, I can’t explain the hair. Same with the Jeanie doppleganger.
Spooky! What could they be?

When I was in 3rd grade, my friend Krystelle and I had a crush on this boy named Alter. One day Krystelle told me that she’s going to ask for Alter’s phone number and I should go with her. So we moseyed up to him and asked for his number saying we needed it for a school project.
One day, I was in a hurry to get out of my house because I was running late for my math class. Just as I was closing our door, this old man approached me clutching his stomach his face contorted in pain. He asked me for a glass of warm water because he wasn’t feeling well. Part of me felt bad for the man but part of me doubted him. What if he’s a thief? Or a rapist? So, I told him that I was late and I didn’t have time to get back inside the house, then I walked away.
