Q. Do you have French heritage?
Shia LaBeouf: Yeah, my dad’s Cajun. I have a cool lineage, a good group of people. I’m Jewish so I was named after my grandfather. Shia means “gift from God” and LaBeouf means “the beef” so my name means “thank God for beef!” [Laughs]

Shia LaBeouf: I like beef, yeah, I mean I’m a walking advertisement for it! I recently went to France and someone told me that Shia means “shit”, so over there my name means “shit the beef!” I was like: “Man, I’m cool with ‘gift from God’, let’s keep that going!”

Whoa! I just heard the news about Shia Labeouf’s arrest. He was charged of misdemeanor criminal trespassing. Shia refused to leave a Walgreens drugstore in Chicago after a security guard requested him to leave. Police could not confirm if he was intoxicated or not since they didn’t test his sobriety, but they were called because of a dispute between Shia and the security guard.

Is it just me or is this arrest uncalled for? There isn’t really much detail surrounding this bit of news, but refusing to leave? Does that really require them to call the police? It’s not like he assaulted the security guard. Even if he’s drunk, he wasn’t even DUI.

Poor Shia. People are all too quick criticize him, bringing back comments he made about celebrities partying. Like:

“It could all go away tomorrow if I’m at a club drinking like an [idiot].”
“I don’t like going to clubs. If I’m going to party, I’ll do it at my house.”

They didn’t even know if he was drinking or not. I’ve admired Shia Labeouf since his Even Stevens days. He’s a great actor, cute too. This is just something that tabloids would feast on since he’d been successful on staying under the radar since the beginning of his career.

Man I can’t wait for the full details and Shia’s side of the story. But damn that Security Guard! Grr!
