August Rush
I know a lot of critics thought this movie sucks, but I beg to differ. I love it. First of all, August Rush is all about the music and the movie delivered. The music is amazing and the cinematography just fits perfectly. The plot was just simple. It’s about an orphaned boy, Evan Taylor a.k.a August Rush (Freddie Highmore), who uses music as a way of finding his parents. Both of his parents are musicians. His mother, Lyla Novacek (Keri Russell), a young cellist and his father, Louis Connelly (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), an Irish rock star met at a party one night and fell in love. But Lyla’s music career was on the rise, so her father forbade her to see Louis. Lyla got pregnant from that chance encounter with Louis. But she got into an accident. Her father told her that her baby died, but not until her dad’s death bed did she found out that her father gave her baby up for adoption.
The movie is all of their journey in finding one another. It is a little far fetched, I admit…okay a lot. But I think that’s the point of the movie, it’s like a modern musical fairy tale set in New York.
